Recreational opportunities abound with the
Ozark National Forest to the north and the Ouachita National
Forest to the south. Both National Forests border Conway
County. The Arkansas River borders the south edge of town
and separates Morrilton and Petit Jean Mountain, home of
Arkansas' first state park.
There are numerous clubs and organizations to
meet the needs and interests of the residents. Among these
are Kiwanis, GFWC Century League, GFWC Pathfinder Club, GFWC
Adelaide, GFWC Literary Coterie, Rotary, Lions Club, Boy
Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, 4-H, sports clubs
for youth activities, garden clubs, hunting clubs, fishing
clubs, and many church related groups. Morrilton and Conway
County are very active through their volunteer organizations
and have received awards on both the state and national levels.
Morrilton and Conway County have had a steady growth pattern
for many decades. As it continues to grow, the Morrilton
Area Chamber of Commerce, City and County government continue
to support both a friendly "down home" attitude
and a strong business climate. The Morrilton area prides
itself on being an excellent place to live, work,
play and raise a family.
Quality of life is an important asset in
the Morrilton area, with a large county medical center, superior
private and public schools, a two-year college, numerous
churches, a municipal airport, city, state, and federal parks,
county fair-grounds, golf course, ball parks, fitness center,
county library, interstate access and numerous facilities
for meetings and conventions.
